Local guide

A city of offices, clinics and corner shops

Albany is the state capital, and a lot of the local economy grows out of that. Around the Capitol and the Empire State Plaza you’ll find law firms, lobbyists, consultants, engineers and trade associations. Contractors and vendors from all over the region sell to the state agencies based here. The Albany Med Health System calls itself the Capital Region’s largest private employer, and plenty of medical and dental practices work nearby. On Lark Street, the business strip that runs through Center Square, small shops are working on a comeback: new businesses are opening, and the street’s business district is working to bring back the Art on Lark festival.

Very different businesses. Same problem: too much of the day goes to the phone, the inbox and forms.

What eats the week here

  • A two-lawyer office where the phone rings all morning while both attorneys are in court.
  • A vendor who spots the perfect state bid two days after the questions deadline.
  • A dental front desk juggling hold music, confirmation calls and insurance forms.
  • A Lark Street shop owner answering “are you open late?” messages at 10 at night.
  • A landlord with three rowhouses and a phone full of tenant texts about radiators.

None of that needs a new software system. It needs the tools you already pay for set up to handle more of the routine work.

What we’d set up first

For law and professional offices, we usually start with an AI receptionist for intake calls and inbox sorting, so deadlines and client messages rise to the top. There’s more on our law, accounting and insurance page.

For contractors and vendors who sell to the state, it’s bid finding and tracking plus the compliance paperwork that comes with every bid. Albany is where those bids start: state agencies are required to post their bid opportunities on the New York State Contract Reporter. Dom built a bid radar for his own company that reads them every morning.

For shops and restaurants, it’s review replies and your Google Business Profile, plus a website chat assistant for the questions you answer every single day. See our restaurants and retail page for more ideas.

Confidential stays confidential

A lot of Albany offices handle sensitive information. We set everything up on accounts you own, turn on the vendor’s business settings that keep your data out of model training where they exist, and keep client files out of consumer AI. For medical and dental offices, patient information only goes into HIPAA-eligible tools covered by a signed BAA. The details are in our AI and data policy.

Close by, and glad to drive

Our office is on New Karner Road in the Town of Colonie, just off Central Avenue. The mailing address says Albany, and the city is a straight shot east. Dom runs his own construction company, www.TheDomConstruction.com, here in the Capital Region, so driving to an office downtown, in Center Square or in Pine Hills is a normal day for us.

In Albany

Three things we’d set up here

Typical first projects for Albany businesses. Each one is shaped around how you already work, and nothing goes out without your OK.

  • Intake calls for a small law office near the Capitol

Both attorneys are in court and the phone keeps ringing. An AI receptionist answers, asks only the intake questions you approve, collects names for your conflict check and sends you a short summary. It never gives legal advice, and client details stay in tools set up for confidential work.

    The service behind it

    AI Receptionist
  • A morning bid list for a state vendor

State agencies post their bids on the New York State Contract Reporter. We set up a daily scan for your trades, a short ranked list each morning with due dates, and a checklist of the forms each bid asks for. You decide what to chase.

    The service behind it

    Bid Finding & Tracking
  • Review replies and weekend posts for a Lark Street shop

Drafts of a reply to every Google review in your voice, plus a quick post before busy weekends on the street. Nothing goes out without your OK, so you can approve it from your phone between customers.

More questions and answers
Do you come to Albany?

Yes, all the time. Our office is just outside the city in the Town of Colonie, about 20 to 25 minutes from downtown by I-90 or straight down Central Avenue. Most visits happen at your office, because that is where we see how your week really goes.

We're a small law office. Where does client information go?

Only into accounts your firm owns, set up for confidential work, with the vendor's business settings that keep your data out of model training where they offer them. If you want an NDA, we sign it before we look at anything, and we often start with tasks that never touch client files.

Can you help a medical or dental office?

Yes, with one firm rule: patient information only goes into HIPAA-eligible tools covered by a signed BAA, never consumer AI. Plenty of front-desk work fits inside that rule, like reminder texts, rescheduling and after-hours call handling.

We bid on state work. Can AI fill out the bid for us?

It can do the reading and sorting: find the bids that fit, pull out the due dates and requirements, and pre-fill the forms you send every time. A person still checks the numbers and signs. That is how Dom runs bids at his own construction company.
